End Of First Quarter

From Alpha to Golf, these first sets in our year,
In which winter ends, and the tulips appear;
Though not yet in flower, they push through the ground,
Reminds us to stop, take a fresh look around.

For dirt’s more than dirty – it’s earth where we live;
Supports where we walk, to us nutrients give;
Gives rootage for trees, giving shade from the sun;
Sustains (though neglected) our lives and our fun.

To me, change of quarter, or sets, or a year,
Are times to stand back, see objective that’s clear:
“Am I still on track as I floundered around?”
“Are visions of grandeur firm rooted in ground?”

When I look too closely at detail ahead,
It doesn’t help living or thriving – instead,
It panics me out, is not helpful at all –
I frequently see not a door but a wall.

But somehow I move on; a paper-trail leave;
Each step implementing the things I believe;
God’s miracle plan – quite amazing I’d say –
God’s wisdom emerging as He leads the way.

This quarter I’m into a new life for me,
Its nature quite foggy – though shapes I can see:
To walk out Bob Tilton, with Psalms to sustain,
As sets role on forward to check-point again.

Bob Tilton spoke clearly of Giver-type life,
Encourager second – his gift-mix just right;
For Giver-financer is second in me,
And needs reinforcement so stable I’ll be.

So plug-ins the theory, just keep pressing on;
Ignore all the people who say I am wrong;
For wrong’s in their thinking, just means, “Live like me,
Then you’ll be successful and happiness see.”

That’s nonsense – I’m planting my crop for the fall;
Not fall as in garden of Eden, and all,
But fall as in harvest of crops which I sow,
The wisdom of seasons, and life that I know..

So Father, I start a new quarter of sets,
In midst of confusion and tumult, and yet,
Your world it sustains us, Your son sets us free
To follow Your Spirit – with me being me.
