This Larger Needlepoint Of God

Well, hey! hey! hello daughter of some far-off Mayan King –
Conquistador, whatever else from mists of time you bring –
A long-lost child from Babel's split so many years ago –
Hey welcome home into our hearts – with love we greet you so!

For woven in, around, and through, the tapestry of time,
We form a picture like some needlepoint in hands Devine;
Where once was enmity and hatred, now embrace of love;
So, come on in and welcome home – a gift from God above.

What joy and pure delight you bring with you into our home,
Now you've come here into our lives from where our son has roamed;
We met your folks, and friends, and puppy in our visit there,
Now you've come here and seen the life he brings, which now we share.

We're all a blend of textured threads which form a pictured scene;
Our stitches few depict each choice, and where our paths have been;
Some things are set, some things picked up, and others left aside,
But in the end they form part which passing time can't hide.

So yes, your news and presence here have made our hearts sing out;
Each precious day from when we met we're glad that you're about;
We're looking forward to the day of blessing vows you make,
And in our prayers we ask His blessing on the plans you lay.
