Balance

“To play both instruments at once
Is nice enough, but problem comes –
For one is great, but that's too much,
Enough's enough for thus and such.

“For balance is so key to me;
It's how I live, and think, and see;
The total package of my time
Must balanced out, then I do fine.

“A ring of boxes circles me,
Like sister's hula hoop you see;
Each box is for a part of life
An even spread – now there's the life!

“I have a ‘music’ box, agreed –
‘Play something well’ is what I need;
I need each box of even weight;
When balanced out, then I feel great.

“I may not know the other parts,
But this I know deep in my heart –
Two instruments would overload
One box for me – uneven load.

“And so ’fore I participate,
It looks like I procrastinate;
I don't, I balance out my load,
When that is done, I hit the road.

“It's not the only way I live,
It's part for those who finance, give;
For 'balance' as a part of me
Is critical – I hope you see.”
