Taking Off

Well, here we go, we're taking off,
Back home again – we go aloft;
With two more hops we're home again –
A week of sun, with little rain.

Good week of sushi, souvenirs,
With airport checks, and family near,
Almost a ride as “Superman”
(Though taxi-ride was quite sublime).

We slept, and talked, and barbecued;
Saw condo-life at beach quite new;
Swam in the pool – first time since sick –
And wedding-dance with movements quick.

Learned, “quatro”, “chow”, and “gracius”;
Heard Portuguese has speakers fast;
“A barbecue's for visiting”;
In family-times some people sing.

It was a great transition time
Of meeting, greeting, talk sublime;
Of Nano fending off the foe –
First TV seen, then off he'd go.

The PJ's in departure trip;
The Pictionary sketching tricks;
The “Meeting Fockers” movie times;
The Content-Grinder's opening lines.

A chat with Nixon on the phone;
And Nano sad when left alone;
Two people deep in love entwined;
Extended kin of farming kind.

An airplane lands – we taxi forth
On runway now, for heading north;
The chatter of excited kids;
A baby cries – fear in our midst?

The runway's there in front of us;
Last checklist’s done, a burst of thrust –
Land falls away, the climb is steep –
Two families off to futures meet.
