Novelty

Novelty is what I see,
Through the lens – jumps out at me;
Once I've seen it, it's not there,
’Cept in contrast – I compare.

Novelty is captured here
In these photos I hold dear;
Memory held in a chip
Slows the loss of much of it.

Novelty in things we see –
Bad and good where e’er it be –
Evil is not good for us,
When we stumble on such fuss.

Novelty – one can't stay there –
Ever new, unstable, bare;
Sun bursts here in dawning day –
Newness mixed with old that way.

Novelty, upon these shores –
Native folk, conquistadors,
Met and mixed – some trauma, si?
Contrast and compared – indeed.
