The Counsellor

Once there was this tiny cook
Whose meals emerged not from some book
Of recipes passed down to her,
But from her mind, as pot she stirred.

Informed by past, tradition’s best,
She blended thought to make the rest
Of what she placed before us, then
Tweaked even more when made again.

For years she'd thus creations made;
Passed on some tricks – foundations laid
In lives of other chefs and cooks
Who from her end, beginnings took.

Some never rose o’er recipes,
Were quite content her road to see;
Their focus lay elsewhere in life –
Quick meals from her relieved their strife.

But other cooks, inspired by her,
Ideas took as pots they stirred,
Creating gastronomic treats
Which now the world around them eats.
