Lingua Franca

In speaking “Pix” what can I say
About this language and its way
Of right-brain transfer to the page –
Reflecting on this age and stage?

It's clear to me I must get good
So I am clearly understood
When speaking this new lingo, “Pix”
To share my inner concepts rich.

If I'm so focused on the craft
While shooting ’round me, fore and aft,
I'll mess about disruptively
My thoughts not clear for all to see.

Some folks I know speak “Paint” or “Clay”,
And thus express their thoughts that way;
Some write, some sing, some carve in wood,
Some through stained-glass are understood.

For me my photo-skills topped out
In silver-base, just short of shout;
But newer ways have opened up,
A techie-base that's not so tough.

Embedded in those bits and bytes –
Extended range of blacks and whites,
While colour hues with subtle shifts
Convey those inner tones I missed;

What can't be captured in the light,
Through Photoshop is soon made right;
A tool whereby one's inner swirl
Flows nimbly through our bounded world.

They say that training best for us
Is Practice – never say ‘enough’–
Just shoot, and write, and speak about
What's on your mind, from wisp to shout.

I think of Lenny Breaux, back when
His concerts drew our breath back in;
He practiced day and night alone
As finger-picking he would hone.

Ten thousand hours to skills perfect,
That's what they say – we can expect
To rise above the others round
If we'll perfect our clearest sound.

I know I am well along my way,
My years in silver-base now pay
Rich dividends in basic skill,
And yielding to Creator's will.

As well as basic skills, I see
Communication's ways must be
Brought to the front re: cultures' fence –
To neutralize such strong defence.

Then content too, what thoughts to share;
And Giver-land – become aware
Of nature of that sector new,
As aspects daily come to view.

Reflection on Creator's Word
As inter-mixed, the Spirit  heard
As salt, and light, and leaven for
This world-ly aspect I adore.

Then market must be ascertained,
If sustenance can be maintained;
And all within constraints which shift,
That I not end up in the ditch.

A team of cohorts I should seek,
Our journeys share, fresh thoughts to meet;
Both past and present worker types
Have lots to share to make it right.

Explorer photo-genre’s range,
And other art-forms mild to strange –
Enrich as I am then enriched,
As I Explorer this photo-niche.

Then motion picture has techniques
Which from my past are now in reach;
The worlds of sight and sound and touch
Inspire techniques not used as such.

So, how to learn the fastest way
That soonest I might have a say?
A blog? my website? comment there?
And other's sites – our notes compare?

Then call a conference – pool resource?
Create a trophy? Outlet? source?
Find others out there working now –
Tap in their efforts?  meet somehow?

Hmmm, as a start this opens up
Exciting ways, exciting stuff,
To do my language-school these days,
To speak in Giverland-ish ways
