Ricochet
Twenty-some times see the cash ricochet
Inside the family ’fore going its way;
That is so different from way that we spend,
Here in this country where cultures all blend.Some money shoots ’cross the borders quite fast;
Others, between, make it seemingly last;
“I'll do your laundry, then you take in mine”
Carries no status like spending a dime.Government tax on this method now thrives,
Taxing our spending throughout all our lives;
You'd think such taxing would stop spending fast –
“Best things in life are for free, and they last”.Not on your life, greed and craving drive on;
Envy and pride fill our covetous song;
“I want what you have, and you want what's mine;
Can't do without it in life that's refined.“Let's go to China and sell to those guys”;
Buying cheap labour – to us it seems wise.
As wages rise, we move on without rest,
Postponing end-times when all becomes blessed.Where will we turn to when all are like us –
Fat, greedy, wealthy, unfettered in lust?
Everyone wanting a wage that is higher
So they'll have wages to meet their desire.Excessive wealth comes from power and might,
Bigger our guns so we don't have to fight;
Pax of Romano, Britannia, and Yanks,
Makes all seem well, so to God we give thanks.Children are dying with tears on the cheek,
Lacking nutrition their young bodies need;
Inside such families which struggle each day,
There is no cash, so it can't ricochet;There is no laundry to take in their brothers';
There is no dime for a status from others;
Taxing of spending a joke to the poor;
Life's free and lasting down there in the sewer.Envy and pride, craving, covetous greed,
Over all minds, rich and poor, often sweep;
Clamouring, grasping, a race for the top,
Poor, like the rich, crave what others have got.So they sell labour; make goods which are cheap;
Ricochet pay-checks; buy goods which they need.
Wages go up as their life-style goes down,
Changed are the families for things they now own.People live longer, less struggle each day;
Speed-bumps occurring with each rise in pay;
Soon they have guns which are bigger then best –
Pax of the Orient – different ones blessed.So on, and so on, each cycle goes higher,
Fuelled by the chattels and goods we desire;
Life's not a straight-line projected to last –
Ricochets happen – with people and cash.navigation
