New Ventures
It doesn't matter where you've been or even where you're at,
But what's ahead from this time forth as you come up to bat.
It's scary though as we look down, and knock the dusty plate,
Then step right up and face the ball and we our stances take.I dreamed of stories, days of old, of exploits shared with folks,
And how acquainted we became, hitched up our churchly yokes;
And then I saw my past as large – much bigger than today –
How folks live here and now not then in all they do and say.I saw how folks don't want our stories, lessons from the past;
For life demands from us a glory, more of us is asked –
The games and innings we've been through bring us to “batter up”;
What we do now is all that counts – the cindered baseline rough.So watch that ball, your muscles flex, as limber you remain;
Relating to this moment now, alert to present game;
Like who's on first, who leads from third, what strategies you'll use
And have some fun within the game, this next swing that you choose.navigation
