'Fore We Begin

My “sequential” for some seems like “random” to them;
“In the middle I'll meet you” far out on the fen;
The context of starting must be up to scratch,
Or its whoosh! up in smoke like a candle to thatch.

Defenses are high (though the payoff is great)
On roadway to riches where they lie in wait;
Skeet shooting thought to amuse or defend;
Like a hawk for a mouse, sceptics watch, then descend.

I first cut the Scripture from Bible to book
From chapter to verse thinking one little look
Will not tax one's mindset, it’s problem at best;
But still there are issues – “That's good, but what's next?”

Shifting from daily to one piece a week,
“Contemplate slowly each day that we meet”
For growth's on a curve, needs foundation to stay
Start where we are, grow on upward each day.

When it comes to teaching or sharing my thought
My patience is low but it's all that I've got
If folks are not ready to plug into life
The words that I share, then I leave them in strife.

It's up on the cliff-edge constructing a fence
I really like working, but high folks' defense
They don't have to heed me – “walk over the edge
You'll illustrate law not defy it (no ledge).”

It's when they have fallen and learned about stop,
They pay more attention and hear what I've got;
More costly by far but that's capital's way –
The payoff is higher for risks when they pay.

So A through D labels the clients from hell
The last two are dump-trucked as I wish them well
For A’ers and B’ers are not just the rich
But folks with attention stuck out in the ditch.

But there one must listen –“Want out? or just oats?”
“Are you making headway, or just off of the roads?”
Or have you despaired making progress again
So, open your heart, and you can't stand the pain?

For shortage of fuel is not stuck in the swamp;
I give you some fuel then you go where you want;
But horse that is mired to its withers in slop,
Needs lifting to safety to use what it's got.

So maybe it's good to go hastily slow;
To deal with such issues, for then we'll both know
The lay of the land, and the range of success,
Which we can expect moving on from this mess.
