Fear Of The Dark
It is not good that man should be alone these darkling days,
But rather, walk with wife its paths, and gladly sing her praise;
For life is tough, it's challenges are stiff for us to face –
Not good for us to be alone as part of human race.I did not choose to walk these paths as single person, Lord;
I saw not harm but blessing in the Scripture's word
That it's not good for man to be alone throughout life's days;
So took a wife – such bliss that's been through restless ways:Through years of raising kids, and now grandchildren bless our home;
Through twisted trails we followed jobs, sought answers as we roamed;
You gave us here stability and roots to draw your life
In town and region where you raised us up as man and wife.The world has changed for us, as for the folks in neighbourhood:
Increased the speed, while ways and times are barely understood;
Two times and more the people who now share this world:
With rising strife, and threat the war-like banner be unfurled.Lord, this next part of life I do not wish to walk alone;
To rattle round in house that once had been our home;
I pray your love and healing touch here in this week
On one I love, and for her life and health – in prayer, that's what I seek.You know my heart, O Lord, much better than I think I do;
It's thoughts and ache that's deep, in face of what’s come into view;
The hard-pack soil, beat down in us by years of needless pain –
A cost once paid, now threatens to resist your healing rain.Lord, Angel-tears gave life where Isaac lay as sacrifice –
His would not flow where deep contempt for father did suffice
To mark the bounds he could not cross to reach out to his dad –
His father rich – “abandoned-giving” only way of life he had.But you stepped in, O Lord, providing what he could not live –
A sign for dad whose past left him with only “yes” and “give”.
Like Isaac all, O Lord, as we confront enormity –
We come up short – please fill the gaps of life we cannot be.navigation
