Check, Mate

One thing which stands for you and me
Between good health and death I see,
Is check-box left unchecked on sheet –
So lab won't make report complete.

“Oh, just one box did not get checked”
(She gives the box tick requisite);
“May day be nice, Sir,” then she smiles
As if no problem all the while.

Except that one box on the page,
Where central marker's so engaged
With colon-cancer, as to show
By rising trend what we should know.

Unless, of course, I pregnant am
(A bit outlandish for a man);
Shadows, and spots, an uncheck box –
Ah! Such precision where gods walk!

I'd say the range they operate's
Three quarters right, at least to date;
They balk when questions we raise up –
Too bad, it's best we catch this stuff.
