Second Chances
Sometimes, when sin's a symptom, and not a driving cause
It's hard for God to take it, lift from our lives because
It's all tied up with who we are, removal would destroy
The fabulous creation He designed to be deployed.So he transforms the context, from driver to the driven;
Inverts us where we're standing, from the giver to the given;
Helps us to see the picture is much bigger than our lives;
Here sin is not the driving cause against which Spirit strives.When evil's economic, some other people's sins
Let loose in combination which on us trouble brings;
As kids it thunders on our heads, destroys our peaceful days,
And bends our fragile bodies till it warps our joyful praise.So we grow up all twisted in one or two key spots;
Just where depends on giftings, and culture that we've got;
So we pour out a mixed up portion of our faithful stew,
And feed our friends and neighbors with a tainted point of view.So God just lets it stay there, the tares amongst the weeds,
Awaiting time of harvest to gather up good seeds;
When He then sends his angels out to twisted parts remove
So He can then have shiny seed – of quality approved.Some think that's just at end times, and certainly it's then;
But other times he gathers his crop and sickle bends;
Like when we change the place we live, or jump our culture's wall,
So past is gone, we can't move on – we on our faces fall.He laughs and says, “It's okay – I'll send an angel ’round
To gather weeds ’fore harvest – shut up, don't make a sound.
For in this larger picture, you'll see your way once more,
And take my yoke upon you, walking free for evermore.”So cycles of the seasons roll on throughout our lives;
We think we're graduating, success has now arrived;
But ’till the last of all His kids have made it through the door,
He'll clean us up for some new task, and plant his seed once more.navigation
