Cool Breath Of Fall

First breath of fall in night-time air,
As seasons change and all prepare
To hunker down to winter's blast,
               And mark another summer past.

Vacation done with work before
Us, taking up our load once more
As fall term starts to thrill us through
And we pick up the work we'll do.

Each season like Havdallah's end
Fresh starts bring on, while old roads bend
Confronting us with freshened views –
New life from inside sadder news.

I love this life with seasons' change,
     With options now to rearrange
Our choices in the tasks we'll do
In life alone, and life with you.
