Salt Water

I heard once of some kiddies drugged
To keep them quiet, hush their mugs –
Were such wee chillins, (perhaps twins) –
Were they both sleeping, lolling in –

Their parents’ arms through noisy show?
With noise, confusion, off they go
Get water poured upon their heads –
Three times for each – they look half dead –

Then pass on to a person who
Does intros to the rest of crew
All ’round the building – not a flinch
Like sacks of flour? – Is it a cinch –

“A little something, keep ‘em down
So not disturb, elicit frown”?
(Then later wake, no crying make,
Though groggy look to people's take).

That's one thing for the adult scene,
Participants know what it means
Right at the time, and know the more
It’s spiritual – clear heads before.

Of course I guess just mommy knows
Perhaps too, dad and few of those
Like stand-along's who'll wave the flag
For “Spirit, Jesus, dear old Dad”.

So what is learned if that is done?
To take a pill to please ol’ mom,
So down the road with drugs okay
Such kids can pour their lives away?

What think ye? – need for wat’ry salt,
Light, leaven, love – thus call a halt
To pleasing folks with drugged up babes –
That down the road some lives be saved?
