We May Be Back

We may be back at time or two
To sing, and pray, and chat with you;
But times have changed, and years now spent,
With parting now, with contact wrent.

We're leaving from, and going to,
Which holds for all – including you –
For us this time of break is seen –
Most breaks in life, past tense have been.

So thanks we say, amidst goodbyes
Thanks for kind words, and tasty pies;
A chance to give time, talent, cash;
A time to savour distant past.

Too soon we rise, the symbols pass;
Our roads diverge, as when a lass –
For once before mom said goodbye,
Then came back home before she died.

We'll meet again, as hymnist wrote,
When for each one earth's ties are broke
When ’cross the Jordan we each pass,
With fetters gone, the present passed.
