The Power Of God
Now I'm no “Virgin Mary”, see,
But what the Spirit says to me
Is like that day a way back when
God gave to her that great “A-hem!”For power of the Spirit will
O’er shadow you, so best be still;
Because when we through action gain
Attention, things are not the same.Think Mozart, Chopin, Schubert, Liszt,
Think of their little brother, sis –
“O’er shadow” would quite understate
Whatever tasks they’d undertake.In that sense now I understand –
The Spirit's power I comprehend –
It will o’er shadow – no surprise –
He'll get the credit in folk’s eyes.Now how does that sit in your craw?
And what conclusions do you draw?
When Spirit's power through you does work,
Rejoice – don't think yourself a jerk.For cedars rise majestically,
Their branches spread for all to see,
While down below on forests floor –
An eco-system tells some more –For function is not always seen;
God works through lowly castor bean –
It all connects to life sustain –
God works through people just the same.We like attention poured on us,
When it's not there we make a fuss;
So when God overshadows thee
What attitude is seen to be?For me that is a great release,
For now all striving can decrease;
A promise that, like for new moms –
Our job’s to help Him raise His sons.navigation
