Dialling Down

‘Stu, dial it down, that tendency to rush;
There's lots of time, and while you're at it, hush;
Don't do your life full throttle all the time;
Just ease ’er back, pick up the pace that's mine.’

I heard those words, and tried them out a bit;
Amazing that – it makes for better fit;
The quantity, goes tumbling to the ground;
While quality, in what I do is found.

A lot of folks, live out in la-la land;
Live off excess, as only moochers can;
Free-riding life, let others scurry ’round;
While they sit back, and utter not a sound.

When we drop back, and cool our fervent step,
We find we rise, to heights we'd not known yet;
For when we stop responding to each call,
We also rise, to big, from being small.
