The Longer Days
So as these longer days now stretch before me
And end of troubled days now pass from view,
My time-horizon stretches to the future,
My fifty-day-block much too short to use.So carefully I shift to focus longer,
So greater scope of action there can be;
A ‘quarter’ is the chunk that's used in business,
Within a year, which groups the months in three.My ‘hundred list’ gets dusted off for viewing,
With ‘wish list’ tools soon photo-linked by me;
The ocean calls in all its shining glory,
To venture forth now photographically.It is not perfect, but I press now forward,
To launch my boat now sitting on the beach;
Pull out the oars with rudder, mast, and halyard,
Set up the sail to catch the passing breeze.I'm looking forward to the coming voyage,
I'm thrilled to stow provisions 'neath the deck;
I'd not considered this to be forthcoming,
When cancer threatened to my voyage wreck.I'm still not sure just where I will be heading,
Now options have emerged in front of me;
Just glad to be preparing for this voyage,
As curious I am ’bout what I'll see.navigation
