Trigger Finger
Whose finger on the trigger, Lord – whose finger should it be –
Someone who understands and waits – or one whose eyes can see?
I used to think “the one who sees”, I'm not so sure right now –
For trigger finger: clarity falls short of truth somehow.Yes, seeing-one feeds off to us who ‘hope’ and ‘how-to’ say;
And we feed leaders of the rest (for wheels to make it pay);
And they get help from those who ‘do’ with energy the task;
And turn to funders for the cash – give up percent they ask.This weekend I saw juxtaposed one seer drop in flames,
While noticing another who avoided all such games –
I asked the second's boss his gifts – confused by what was seen –
He said, “ ‘encouragement – admin’ is what I've always been.”Then flashed across my mind Your words way back some years ago:
“Stu, hire that man,”(I had no cash, so chose to bid you ‘no’).
He later said to me, “Thanks, Stu! you really should have done
Whatever God puts on your heart – for so His Kingdom comes”.I saw right then the mix the same – that seer works for doer,
For triggers held by seers put their projects in the sewer;
For right and might a bad mix make, no give-and-take are makin’
So when it comes to world of gray, a ‘sort-of’ way's forsaken.So that would mean if I had done what seemed those days a strainer
And hired the seeing man, despite no cash – it is no-brainer –
He would have generated cash, in heaps, long-term, a-plenty;
Instead we both lie on the beach like whales whose pool is empty.Now as I turn once more to try to help perhaps I'd error
If I repeated what I've done without a look in mirror;
I also am encourager plus give-administrator –
If I expect this thing to last – “ask who controls the trigger?”My days are numbered – long or short – each act must count for plenty,
Or else I'll end up at the end with satisfaction empty;
So Lord, I turn to you and ask, (I walk three steps and see it) –
“What else is there to do right now – such cost I'll gladly bear it.”I hear you say, “Your task is done – the snag you've seen so clearly –
What goes from here no matter it is, it's him you hold so dearly;
He must take hold and deal with it, how, not so much the matter,
For it will work out in the end, else on the ground he'll splatter.navigation
