This Sacred Trust
You've given us this sacred trust;
A time in which we may, not must,
Pour life into these children's lives,
That they might fullness realize.Nine months you formed them in the womb,
In partnership we made them room;
So soon they grew and moved away –
With hope and courage faced their day.Our standing by – the hardest part –
With prayers, and ache for broken hearts;
Their shattered dreams strewn on the floor –
Encouragement to try once more.Sweet mix of joy in days of rain –
Of summer's children; autumns gain;
Mid-winter’s festive season light;
Springs burst of color, birds in flight.Soon comes the day of parting here,
Strength and involvement disappear;
New hands this trust fulfill this day –
Grant them the grace to find their way.navigation
