Lights Of The City

Lights of the city that draw on
Now my brief day is past and gone
Inspire my hope, and spur me on,
Lift flagging spirit ’fore the dawn.

Long was this day, O Lord, in you –
Early I rose, poetic view,
Some of my photos printed too,
Cancer support, and then his news.

Lord, Shilo's men and women folk,
Battle by day and take the yoke
Of freedoms ways, help others out
Pushing their foes back with a shout.

While in the dark alone I drive
Concerned of heart, and heavy eyes –
But Christmas lights at resting place,
Like city's lights, in dark make space.

First blinking lights of CT scan,
To LEDs of tinselled fan,
Soft comfort glow of the hotel suite
Now glow of home – my city sweet.

Each point of light set forth with care
To warn, inspire, greet, guide, and share
Some message to each person best –
Yonder hotel bids wearied rest.
