My World Turned Down-Side-Up
I find my mind’s turned down-side-up,
And thinking straight now somewhat rough,
As I perceive the world from here,
This place of power, resource – no fear –For fear is gone up in this place,
And pride as well, with it, disgrace;
The people here a rarer breed,
Who set aside all earthly need.It’s quiet here – all clamor gone;
Lots chat, and sing, or hum along;
It’s more the absence of the din,
I notice more than anything.Of course I long to harness up,
To take my sword and parry, thrust;
But that’s not cool I quickly see,
There’s lots in line ahead of me –Not in a line to get some bread,
Nor at Saint Peter’s Gate – instead
A line which waits to be assigned
To some small task Christ has in mind.I ask a guy here in the line,
“So what’s the score, if you don’t mind –
With all the need that’s seen below,
Why does this line progress so slow?”He said, “As near as I can see
(It’s up to Christ, not up to me),
He’s got His ways, and pace, and plan;
Assigns each one who comes to hand.“Percentage of eternity
We stand in line is small, you see,
Compared to life down in the world,
Percent of life gives sense of swirl.Up here where peace prevails as mood,
It’s just as long in line we’ve stood
As down on Earth, but in that case,
We clocked the time by human race.”“But I’m still living in that world;
With focus-shift, I’m in that whirl”
“So do we all – and that’s just fine;
Its focus, man, that paces time.”navigation
