Having Gone

“Into the world”, the phrase Christ said,
For holidays, or sports, or led
By hunch, “it’s time to get my hide
Right out of Dodge, or woe betide”.

Yes, “having gone”, departing words
To his disciples – last they heard;
“Disciple”, just like parent-child,
Mature them up – no longer wild –

Or reckless – losing what they gain,
Enduring then such needless pain;
“Baptize” (a shift left-bank to right);
And “Teach my Judaism lite”.

In Hebrews 12, the “chasten” word,
In context of maturing’s heard;
With cloud of witnesses around
The throne of Christ – supportive sound.

And then Ephesians two, six, says,
God raised us up, and thus it lays
Out clearly where we live and work,
Though each of us are clearly jerks.

As I behold that painted pix,
Return again this Co. to fix,
I get a picture painted there,
Sublime indeed – which helps repair –

Design, and build, a pirate ship;
Adventuresome – as we outfit,
Then hoist our sails; return again
With treasure from our Spanish Main.

That is my task – when I am asked
To help – give wisdom with some cash –
Not cash or wisdom – both they need,
If hungry folks I’m going to feed.
